My aim for the future is to be a successful music video creator. It is my dream to be recognized for creating amazing animated music videos that have a gothic twist. I also wish that I could one day be approached by my favourite alt rock bands and be asked to create a music video of my style and creativity for them. I believe that it would be a great honour for me to have the opportunity to work with amazing people that have inspired me my entire life.
My main strength within animation is my enthusiasm, passion, hard work ethics and my determination. I may not have the best drawing skills or an extensive portfolio, but I’m planning on that being changed by the end of this course. I am aiming to work hard at every creation we will make and skill that I am to learn, I want to succeed within the world of animation and I have every bit of belief that I can with the help of this course and the experts teaching us.

Sean Pecknold
Sean Pecknold is a director, animated music video director, photographer and musician. The work of Sean is very inspiring to me. The style of his music video animations are very similar to the style of work that I wish to create. Even though they are well finished and polished, they still manage to obtain a rough quality to them, giving them a look that shouts out ‘This is my work’ to the audiences. In his music video creations, Sean mainly uses the animation technique of stop-motion and in an interview, Sean states “for me getting into the form came more from photography and design. I never trained as an animator (and sadly that shows sometimes), and when I started to experiment with it, I fell in love with the control you can have and the ability to light and manipulate things in front of a camera. It’s very addicting once you start”. I’ve been unable to find a timeline of his background developments, but from information obtained from interviews and his website, I can gather that he has managed to build up his successful career and reputation through the winning of awards and the production of really awesome festival pieces and music videos. What I can learn from this investigation is that it is really important to get as much exposure of your work as possible, so that other bands, directors, musicians, and animations can get a good picture of the work you can produce.

Funding
As a way to raise fund for my animation projects, I would try to keep my work artistic and freelance. Such as for selling tattoo designs, the cap price for most tattoo studios is £30. If I managed to sell 5 tattoos a month priced between £10 and £20 each according to the size, then I could have an income of between £50 and £100 a month. Plus there’s the possibility of also having commissions for the design of logos for small bands, companies, clubs and business cards. Depending on the complexity and design of the logos and the business size of the commissioner, I could reasonably charge anything between £75 and £150 per design. Apart from these freelance options above, I could always also have a CV improving job such as to be a student ambassador. The jobs to be undergone are part time and enjoyable, giving a reasonable amount of payment.

Objectives
1. To majorly improve on my animation skills so that I can produce works of art that I can be proud of, and that are a high enough standard for the animation industry.
2. To begin making small music videos in my own time or for assignments so that I can work on developing my style.
3. To start networking.
4. To find bands that I can begin to make music videos for, to begin to get myself know by other bands and commissioners.
